May is California Tourism Month
Client / Visit California / 2018–2019
ABOUT THE PROJECT
"Thanks to the California Legislature’s passage of ACR 166 in May 2016, this May marked the second year of California Tourism Month, during which Visit California – as well as the entire tourism industry – capitalized on the opportunity to leverage the national spotlight.
To kick off the month, Visit California released its latest economic impact report to coincide with National Travel and Tourism Week. The report highlighted the eighth consecutive year of growth for the Golden State’s tourism industry, marking record-breaking increases in visitor spending, employment, and local and state tax revenue."

Details about the project
For the second consecutive year I have had the opportunity to design the installation for Visit California's Governor's display. To kick off awareness for May's tourism month the installation is displayed next to the Governor's office in the (west wing) Sacramento Capitol building.
In 2018, I was inspired by the intricate patterns seen on banknotes. I utilized spirographs to make unique patterns while incorporating Visit California's brand colors into the artwork. In 2019, I wanted to take a different approach while still using the brand's bright colors and while using a more environmentally friendly material, wood.
